We were living to die, pretty much, but we had no idea. There is one guy I know who several years ago was building golf courses with Jack Nicklaus, handling billionaires’ finances. Now he’s running a publicly traded company worth millions. Sounds great, right? Well, he just got diagnosed with ulcers; his physical system has begun to break down, as that is usually the first thing to go, and I know that this is just the beginning for him. His mother was a drunk, and his father was also a drinker who never came home. Every once in a while I saw my mom, and one day we went to buy a pair of shoes for me, and at the store I saw Russ Alvarez, a good friend of mine from school whom I hadn’t seen since the term ended.
